Spring Cleaning, BJD Enlightenment, and Honey

The art of letting go

This month I finally did a Big Spring Cleaning and went through all my unused heads, bodies, a few tiny dolls, and other supplies I had accumulated. I sorted everything, listed most of items for sale, and took a closer look at my unfinished projects.

Nothing has sold yet (and I understand it can take time), but I already feel a huge sense of relief. Going through everything, organizing it, and letting go of some pieces feels like an important step. It gives me more space to focus on my current crew.

Right now, I have four unfinished dolls: two older dolls and two newer ones that I haven’t introduced yet. I also have one floating head that I’ve decided to keep as just a head for now.

(By “finished projects,” I mean dolls that already have a backstory, a name, and a place in my crew. And usually a faceup and basic outfit.)

I also counted all my dolls and realized I’m dangerously close to my personal limit of 25 dolls. So after I finish these 4 projects, I’m planning to go into a no-buy mode. I can still consider reshelling or body change in the future, but I won’t be adding anything new. Instead, I’ll focus on improving quality and taking care of what I already have. There is still a lot of work I need to do. We’ll see how it goes.

What’s really nice is that after cleaning, I looked at my crew and felt a kind of harmony. Everything feels in place now - each doll has a purpose, connections, and a role. It just works. It almost feels like a moment of enlightenment.

Of course, I know this state won’t last forever, and soon I’ll probably want to change something - maybe a body, a wig, even a name. That’s kind of funny, in a way. My no-buy mode will limit me, anyway.

 

Miel

And lastly, I’ve “approved” one of my project dolls - so this feels like a small introduction.

Her name is Miel, and she is an IslandDoll Dove head that I finally got in 2025, after admiring her for a decade through other owners’ photos. She has such a beautiful, serene expression that I’ve always loved.

It also reminded me of Volks School Head A SWD that i've owned before hiatus and loved. (His name was Mei)

Mei was, and still is, my very beloved doll. He’s currently with my relatives back in my home country. I based Miel’s character partly on his personality - it’s not a direct reshelling, but more like a “reincarnation.”

Miel is currently on a Dollstown 13-year-old style body, which I think is a very nice match. It does have the usual issue that older DT bodies tend to have (bending knees), but that’s nothing that sueding can’t fix.

I still need to work on her faceup, of course. Hope to do it soon.

I also realized how funny their names are as a couple: Miel means “honey” in French, and Björn means “bear” in Swedish. So it’s basically Bear and Honey. Ahhh, I swear - that was completely unintentional!
