Year Summary

 

December's on the calendar, and I'm finally falling into this summary post.

This year I went absolutely nuts with the hobby - maybe more than ever before. Even though I have very little time for hobby, I wanted my collection to look and feel a certain way. I feel like I need to revisit some of my previous thoughts about my dolls to truly get back into the hobby. I think I've accomplished that. 

It took a few years. My doll display looks pretty good right now. (At least for me.)

I'm not sure what the future will bring, but my dolls allow me to have some creative moments here and there. They are visually appealing, neatly displayed in their glass case. I enjoy just gazing at them when I'm too busy for crafting or photography.

 

2022–2025 (Post-hiatus) summary

At the end of my hiatus I had with me 10 dolls.

Now:
14big + 3msd + 3yosd. That's a lot and I'm running out of space and time, so I don't want to add any more big dolls. 

 

Hybridisations I’ve done:

• Llin got a new body (DOD → MYOU Angel 49cm)
• Helene got a new body (FDoll → Dollstown 13y)
• Ivar got a new body and a new sleeping head (Dollshe 18M Classic → MiracleDoll Fox body)
• Einar got a new body (Dollshe 18M Classic → Aolingshi Slim 70cm)
• Thaire got a new body (FDoll → April Story Senior)

A lot of improvements! Actually, half of my dolls finally received their long-awaited upgrades.

 

Faceups: a lot. Most of my dolls got a new faceup - all done by me.

 

Dolls I’ve sold:

• Mbluedoll Taee head 
• Dollshe Van head (Both these heads were meant to portray Esker, but neither worked, so I give up on this character, at least for now. Taee also was Nora's first attempt - didn't bond with the head in any way.)
• Island Doll Vivian (impulse purchase, obviously didn't work without proper planning)
• AngelOfDream Fei (my attempt to replace Enid, but it failed)

I've sold 4 dolls in total, which feels like a lot to me. I have few more heads and parts for sale, so hoping they will be claimed someday. But some of them haven't sold in nearly a year, even at a low price. They're tiny and yosd sized, so I might just hang onto them if I get tired of this situation. Also not certain about RaOn Dream Kirin - Kieran - he's on sale now, but as feeler.

6 new dolls, 3 not yet finished. Still a lot. Fortunately, I'm done with the intense part of rebuilding my collection and don't plan to rush. I prefer a more relaxed approach to my hobby.

Plans for 2026

• I hope to continue enjoying my hobby. Hopefully i will still have the possibility to create and share something, and make beautiful things with my dolls.
• In a perfect scenario, I’d like to get a new camera, since my old friend from 2010 is declining fast.
• Going to make more crafts and sew more cloth.
• I want to finish all my doll projects (i have few work-in-progress dolls).
• And sell the rest of the unused parts.

 

All in all, had a great year with my hobby and feeling much better about my collection. Making tough choices, I pushed myself to learn how to sell and curate collection. It was necessary steps that paid off.
